Coco,

In the first quarter edition of the “National Parliamentarian,” an article appeared about continuing educational credits. It discussed on page 26 continuing educational units for RPs. It says: “The PDC has developed a CEU program whereby units, associations, and districts can submit an application to have an event approved as a program that may grant CEU credit.”

Do units really have to "submit an application to have an event approved as a program that may grant CEU credit"? Would not our regular unit meetings' educational programs all count without any such "red tape"?

Thanks for the question.  At the time the article was prepared the expectation was that the events would be individually approved.  When the PDC took a serious look at the number of events that were likely and the inability to truly access the quality of an event without being present the decision was to allow the event organizers to determine whether their event qualified for CEUs.

The PDC just met by conference call.  As a result a revised CEU document is being prepared for the website and should be up within ten days.
