As secretary of the Electronic Unit of NAP (eNAP), I have a question that stems from tonight's meeting, concerning whether eNAP is automatically now affiliated with the newly chartered Electronic Association of Parliamentarians (EAP), or whether eNAP needs to still formally request a change to that status.
NAP bylaw IV.5.B.2 provides: "When chartering, an electronic unit shall designate its association affiliation or designate that it will not have an association affiliation. After the initial designation, an electronic unit may petition the NAP Board of Directors to change its affiliation status."
A few of our members thought we would have to formally petition the NAP board to change our affiliation status, to achieve the desired affiliation with EAP.
BUT most of us felt that NAP bylaw IV.3.B ("Electronic associations may be organized when at least three electronic units wish to affiliate, provided that the association’s bylaws have been approved by the NAP Bylaws Committee") sufficed to communicate our "wish to affiliate" and that we were thus now considered affiliated with EAP.
We recognize that the NAP Update email today says we are now affiliated (referring to eNAP as the E-Unit):
"The NAP Electronic Association currently has four chartered e-units: NAP E-Unit, E-Grant, Young Professionals Parliamentary Practice, and the Green Gavel."
But we'd like a definitive statement from NAP that we are indeed officially affiliated, or if instead it is the case, that we need to petition to become officially affiliated.
Thank you.

Paul,
The Electronic Unit is affiliated with the Electronic Association as it was listed on Electronic Association's application for charter.
Thanks,
